If you want high quality, use RAW32 and the Import / Update all Sizes Method. That is the Highes quality you can get.

You also might want to check the compression CheckBox on the PackedFile Tab after you commited the TXTR File in order to reduce the FileSize.

Edit: You did click on Commit right after Build DXT finished, right, without changing anything else.

with build DXT do I need to dot he whole right click> update all sizes??
and yes I did comit after the build DXT and them saved it.

And exactly how do I save it as a RAW32?? >.> <.<;
I tried saving as a raw in photshop but not sure what that did.. :X I get the pop up with:
Header: 0(can be changed)
then something about --
Save channels in:
interleaved order and non interleaved order.. o--O;
then says it doesnt fully encode the image size and stuff.. etc..

I've never tried saving as a raw file before.. o-O;

If you use update all sizes after using BuildDXT you will force SimPE to recompress the Texture with the internal compression (which is bad).

Those are the two main options (you don't have to click anything else!):

1. open TXTR
2. select BuildDXT
3. click commit

or

1. open TXTR
2. set the Format to Raw32
3. click Import
4. right click and say "update all Sizes"
5. click Commit
(Optional for smaller FileSizes, but longer loading Times:
6. Go to "packed File" tab
7. check the "compressed" option)

Now that I've been using Build DXT on several recolors, I notice that with some the result it worse than with the regular import option, while with others it's better. With certain textures, even if I use the DXT5 option, there are some ugly grey pixels along borders, while with a regular import there aren't. Any idea what could cause this?

have you checkd what format the Texture was before the Build DXT?

If it was a RAW Format, then this is because of the added compression.

The DXT Format basically groups the Pixels in Squares of the size 4x4 and compresses each block. So no matter how good the compression is, you still see artefects. All Raw formats store the Pixel Information uncompressed.

Another reason could be that you click anything else in the TXTR Plugin after using Build DXT. As soon as you change something (besides the Filename of the TXTR), you will force SimPE to recompress it with it's inbuilt compression Algorith, which has a low quality.

As i said before. The only thing you can dao, if the DXT does not generate good results, is using the "Import / update all Sizes" Methode (as described above) and store the Result as RAW32 (this includea an alpha channel) or RAW24 (same but without alpha).

Um could you explain that for me? I don't know what it means or how to do it.

Cool, thanks, Quaxi! It worked :).

Mage, if you look a couple of posts up from here, you see the directions posted by Quaxi on how to do it (the latter one of the two sets of directions in the same post). The file size is quite a bit bigger (about three times as big as it was with DXT3) but the texture quality is awesome.
