I am trying to fix the dna of sims but the tutorial has strings listed but in there dna it says dominant and recessive genes. I need to know how the strings transfer to the new format like 1 (dtString): what in the new format?????

That isn't something I do. You might have better luck asking in the thread for the tutorial, since this site is pretty much dead now. Or ask at MTS.
