Hi!

First of all sorry for my English - it isn't very good.

I have a question concerning editing of lots. Before Apartment-Life it was possible to build secret vacatioin lots; after Apartment-Life you can do this, too, but when you try to put the lot in the lot catalog the lot disapperars and never reaches the lot catalog.

In the meantime I found out that the secret vacation lots are not really disappeared - I found them in the college lot catalog - mysterious Sims!

Now I would like to edit this secret vacation lot that is in the college lot catalog with SimPe so it will appeare in the normal lot catalog. Is this possible? If yes, how can I do this?

I just opend this lot with SimPe but I even didn't find the file with the name of the lot.

I would be very appreciate for help!

The same applies here that I said to you in German but maybe I can explain it better in English.  There is no point posting this type of question at this site, as only about two people a day visit here and usually only to report a bug.  You need to post somewhere busier, where players are supporting each other.  This site is just about the development of SimPE as a tool.

0. may back up all the related neighbourhood files and folders just in case of failure in the following approach.

1. May seek out the neighbourhood package files, especially the one that hosts the target lot. if you don't know which that is, you may need to check the modified date of the file to guess it fast. May open it up with simpe.

2. at the file type category, normally the top left panel, may choose the "lot list" file type, and then at top right panel may select the the secret vacation lot in question.

3. may right-click the mouse at the selected lot list file, and then export it. Also, may delete that lot list file in that neighbourhood package file.

4. open the neighbourhood package file you originally want the lot to be with simpe, import theat lot exported into it by right-mouse-clicking at the top right panel and selecting "import...", browsing to the exported, and importing it.

5. save the target neighbourhood package file.

I can't find the export and import options in SimPE. Could you help, please?

Also, what type of file should these be exported as? Will this also work for sims?

Thx!

I'm sure it would work with a sim, since there is a whole section of SimPe that is set up to edit sims much more easily than by extracting them and editing them outside of it.

As for the rest of your question, you might do better asking somewhere else like MTS. I've never done that, so I'm not in a good position to give any more of an answer than you found from niol.  But it looks to me as though if you right click on a single resource, you will have the option to export it. It may (and probably does) automatically select the proper file format for you.

Thanks. I've been having so much trouble lately with disappearing lots and families still on them. I was hoping this editing in SimPE method would help with that.

I just recently discovered I could package the lots while in the game, and that has at least enabled me to have backups of the houses. I've backed up the empty houses and with families in them, but leaving the families in was a disaster. A couple of the kids became unstable and couldn't interact with anything, but just sat there and spinned around constantly, plus the problem with multiple duplicates of characters in the game.

I just wish there was a way to put the families back in after I restore the missing houses. Or to back up the families without the houses so that when I import them, it doesn't create duplicates in the game.

So, you see how I was hoping that SimPE tweaking would help me out here. :)
