| How to... > Restore one sim from a backup? | ||

Member since: 2010-09-02 Posts: 1 | I was playing my hood today and noticed that one of my deceased sims had dissapeared from the family tree, as a result his offspring are now no longer linked to the rest of the family. All the memories they have of him do not have his name but '$subject'. So obviously this sims character file got shredded somehow...
I recently removed over 800 townies etc. from my game (the proper way - first deleting them in-game with the MATY lot debugger, then deleting the relevant data in SimPE, and finally removing their character files) and experienced no problems whatsoever after this. I might have accidentally deleted this particular sim but then wouldn't the memories of him have to be gone too?
Anyway, I don't know how it happened exactly, but I was hoping there is a way to get him back. Not because I like that particular sim so much but rather to prevent my game from exploding if/when the memories of '$subject' spread through gossip or something.
I made tons of backups, but I can only find the sim in the backup I made before I deleted all those townies. So here's my question: Can I copy the character file for this sim from my backup to my current hood? If so, would I have to clean this sim up first (delete all his memories, relations, etc.) and build him back up after I've added him to my current hood?

I don't know about that, though. But as long as the character number isn't in use by a sim you want to keep, you can copy the character file from the backup to the regular game to restore the sim. (To answer the un-asked question, If the game has already reassigned the number to a sim you like, you need to decide which one you like better.... Only one can use the number.)
