By using the GUID Database, you make sure, that your Objects do not conflict with the creations of other Authors using the GUID-Database. The GUID Database is much saver than using Random Numbers ofr GUIDs! Getting a new Account When you use the SimPE to register a new Account, you only have to fire up the "Get GUID" Dialog (accessible through any OBJd Resource in SimPE) and click the "Register User". Button. You will only need one Account! If you register through the Web Frontend, you have a little more work. First thing is to register a new Account on the Web Frontend. If you have done that, simply Log in back to the SimPE Homepage. When you are on the Profile Screen, click "View site" on the top of the Page, and reselect the GUID-Database. Now you should see a Option call "Add Block". Up to now (this is only true, when you used the Web Frontende to create your Account), you only have registred a User account, but you did not assign a GUID Range. By Selecting this Option, you can assign a GUID Range (containing 256 GUIDs) to your Account. Whenever you run out of GUIDs, you can reuse this option, to get another Range. Register a new Object When using SimPE, you also have to start the "Get GUID" Dialog. If your User Settings are correct, you can simply write a name into the "Object Name" textbox on the "New Object" Tab and click "Register Object". SimPE will connect to the online GUID-Database, create a new GUID, and send it back to you. That's all you have to do. If you want to use the Web Forntend, you have a little more work. First you need to be logged in to the SimPE site. When on the Web Frontend for the GUID Database, select the "Register Object" Option. Now enter the Name for your Object, and click the "Register Object" Button. ated GUID. Use that Number in the OBJd Resource of your created object as the new GUID.
