Is there a way to use SimPE for this?
I have a problem with a custom made sim (downloaded long time ago) that makes CAS and BS crash. If I read in the error log it says that there are missing textures e t c. I have cleaned out my downloads and that seems to caused this chrashes because all the part of the sim can't be found... I can't delete her because the programs chrashes but I don't know where they are stored on the computer...
Thought it was in the "saved sims" folder but that's just my own creations...

You can do it by simply deleting the Character File for the Sim in question.

Open the Neighborhood, and the the Sim Description for the Sim you want to delete.
SimPE should show the FileName for the Character File on top of the Plugin View for "Sim Description" (in the dark gray area). Right click on that string, and it will be copied to your clipboard.

Now you simply have to delete that File (in the Windows Explorer). Next Time you start, the Sim will be removed from the Neighborhddo, but all the Memories and stuff will stay!

Ah, i think i read that wrong. You talk about Template Sims in the CAS, right?

If they are not installed in the Saved Sims Folder, they are in the Downloads Folder.

Bitzy,

You can download Clean Installer at mts2 and that will scan any folder you tell it to and report back all the files related to Sims, what they do and their location. It will also tell you if there are any duplications (in pink) and which files are hacks (in red).

Once you know the name and location you can take a look at it in SimPE and see if it really is missing its textures or has other issues, and then you can delete the file either directly or through Clean Installer.

Its a pretty nice little tool.

Actually, it doesn't identify CAS/Bodyshop templates forsims. It doesn't give thema category, but you can sort of weed them out that way. There's a few things it doesn't identify, hacks sometimes have no identification, sometimes beards don't, a few other types of files do, but most others are identified so you can weed those out and among the files that you are left with and don't have any identifiable name and don't have a preview in Sims2pack clean installer, and are generally over 100k and less than about700k, then it's got to be one of those.

Thanks :)
The problem is that I have done that, I used clean installer to remove all duplicates yesterday before I noticed this CAS problem. I also removed some stuff (makeup and clothing) I didn't want to have in BS.
I can't tell if the problem existed before this...

However, how do you search for something that isn't there? ;)
The error log complains about missing textures, I assume that I have erased some of the things that this sim used and I guess I have deleted some of her "parts" ;)

I guess I have to take a look at the downloads without a description in Clean Installer and see if I can locate the CAS files.

Edit:
I removed all the files without a preview image in the downloads folder and that solved the problem. All the CAS sims are gone.
Thanks again! :)

That's what I ended up doing too. I had an army of CAS sim templates that I didn't need and started deleting them one by one in the body shop but it took WAY too long, so I just sorted through all my downloads in Clean Installer, and went through the ones that didn't have a type or preview and no discenerable name and just deleted them.

I found a way to find sim CAS files--it's kinda hit and miss, but most of the time I have been right.

With the CI those files that do not have acatergory and have ONLY numbers in the name (both what shows in CI and the associated file name that shows when the pointer hovers over the name) are usually sim templates. The 'numbers only names' are usually pretty long and easy to pick out. Ocassionally, there is a short numbers only name tho. But always numbers only and usually without any -, or _ in them.

Hope this helps.
