It happened again. I had been editing in two different user accounts so when I tried to scan my Downloads I got the "unable to read beyond end of stream" that means I need to clear my cache. Out of curiousity I clicked the "get support" link. It still goes to bug reporting.

Now imagine someone new to SimPe and somewhat new to forums in general clicking that link. It isn't too surprising that we get 100 people asking about Direct X  errors if we don't even send them to the FAQ page first.

If it isn't something that is in the FAQ section they can go to bug reporting from there. But there is no point in asking them to read the FAQ if you didn't send them there in the first place. :)

Now if I could find the posts about linking support to the bug reporting forum...

Maybe what we need is a BIG STICKY in both forums pointing to the other - but nobody reads stickies.

For that matter people never read FAQa even when linked to them - they just click out and head for a bug report or discussion forum and then complain that when they need help they get sent to the FAQ forum and then have to go elsewhere to post a problem (FAQ is not post-able too), and  others complain that they already read the FAQ once - why keep going back there.  Its one of those problems where nobody is wrong but the way it is right now only some people are going to be happy.

Maybe we need both?  A link to the FAQ and a link to bug reports right in the help section and people can choose.  Yeah the help drop down list is a bit long by one but then those that use it can have the right re-direct for them.

Maybe the right thing to do is fix those "bugs" that are really FAQs so they don't look like bugs?
