I know how to get to it, but when I select a sim and go to their memories none of them load and everything under properties is greyed out.

the drop down menu under create is blank.

Is there something I need to do to enable it, or an extension to download?

My version is 7.2 and my latest expansion is Mansion and Garden.

I'm farely new to SimPe so, laymens terms please

If you have M&G, did you get the patch for it? Actually, you should be using the final version of SimPe, which is version 73.44. You can find the link on the Home page. This requires extracting into a new folder and manually setting shortcuts yourself.

Try again with the final version and see if that helps.

I assume that you have played the game at least once?

I think this is another one I'm going to need to ask Peter about.

My memory is worse than Sim memories!  It does sound like there is nothing being loaded - which usually means there is nothing there to load.

Haha, I have. I've been playing it for years, there's a lot of memories that should be loading.

The neighborhood doesn't crash when you try to load it? If the Neighborhood memory file (which holds everyone's memory and gossip) isn't there, you would not find any memories. But the game won't run without that file. And the biggest symptom of a problem is corrupted memories. So if the memories are fine in game something odd is going on, and it seems that nobody who is available knows what the problem is.

Does this problem affect every sim, or just one neighborhood, or even just one sim?

No my neighborhoods don't crash, but there are two of each. It happened when I reinstalled the sims and replaced the new neighborhoods file with the old one that I saved before so that I wouldn't lose my sims.

It ended up not working, all my sims are there but not playable. I think they may have become townies because I've found a few of them using the tombstone of L and D.

The two neighborhoods act seperate but if I delete one they both disappear.

Besides this though everything basically runs fine, never any problem with the memories in game, but it's the same effect for every sim in PE

It seems likely that the weirdness with the game is what is causing the weirdness with SimPE.  You could check by starting a new game in a new neighborhood, playing for a few minutes, then seeing if your new sim can have memories edited.  If so, you will need to find out why your backup isn't working properly.  (Did you back up the entire neighborhood folder, or just part of it?)

Okay. I did some playing around with it last night and somehow managed to get pe to show their invisible hobby initiate token, so that's a bit of progress. As for the backup I did that some time ago so I'm not too concerned about getting those sims back. I copied the entire folder but when I went in and took a closer look I found that I merged the folder instead of replacing it, so I have two neighborhood packages inside the folder. I'll test out your idea, and also see if removing the extra neighborhood packages will do any justice.
