Removing the simpe.dockbox.plugin.dll from the installation folder causes unwanted effects on the usability of SimPE: some of the core plugins are no longer accessible.

This is the starting point: SimPE installed and running with all its plugins:

This happens when removing the dockbox plugin:

As you can see, most of the tab names are replaced by  empty icons; selecting the tab only shows an empty window.  If I try a "reset Layout", here is what happens:

In order to fix the mess, I have to put the DockBox plugin back, an do again a "Reset Layout".

NOTE: all the plugins that become unreachable are part of the SimPE core.

So, I think it's better to move the DockBox out of the __NonCore section...

You can do Reset Layout without putting the Dockbox back in.

Like I said, __NonCore is about building SimPE.  You don't need the DockBox to build a runnable SimPE.exe.  That doesn't mean you would want to run SimPE without it.

I was coming to this same conclusion, but - as I wrote in another thread - I'm trying to allow users to select/deselect SimPE components in the installer, so to "tailor" SimPE on the user's needs.

Obviously, our different points of view (you as developer, me as power user) have led me to consider the dockbox as part of the "core" (meaning for me "group of functions that we can't live without" :P )

Out of curiosity, I've explored this plugin with the Wrapper.exe, and it enables in SimPE:

  • Window dockability (-> Custom layout)
  • Tabs: Package, Resource, Wrapper, Converter, Hex, Finder
  • Resource Actions: Reload File Table, Unique Instances
  • Tools: Create Description, Create/Open Sims2Pack

That's a lot of stuff that I definitely can't live without, lol! :)
