I'd like to be able to open a package in read-only mode so I can't accidentally edit and try to save it. This would be useful as I sometimes want to open a file just to refer to while I am editing another.

If this was possible, it would also be nice if the display could be altered in some way to make it obvious that it was in readonly mode.

Maybe a checkbox could be added in the upper right of the SimPE gui, for example called "write protect", that disables saving in that program-instance with the file opened atm.
