Hi, I have been attempting to make my own templates for the Photo Studio plug in. I am doing something wrong as my recolors do not show up in the game. The templates show in photo studio and I can attempt to recolor them.

I am thinking part of the problem is my misunderstanding of a couple parts of the tutorial. I am fine until I hit step 8 which instructs you to remove the 128-Bit Key from the file name. How do I know what part it that key and what part to leave intact?

Then on step 14 it instructs you to change an instance. Am I correct that I change the instance in the property part to mtch the other one?

Thank you for your time.

Jo

The best place to ask those questions is in the same thread as the tutorial, or at least the same place. I've never done it, so I have no idea. Since the tutorial apparently assumed that the 128 bit key would be easy to find, is there a string of letters and numbers that is 8 spaces long and sitting separated from the rest of the items? Possibly by an underscore? If so, I would guess that would be what you are looking for. But that is only a guess. I could be very wrong about it.

Regarding your second question, it sounds likely, but I have no idea at all.

There isn't a thread about this. It is here:  http://sims.ambertation.de/tut_ps.shtml

Wow! That tutorial is old!

But the basic idea is still the same, so I suppose it still works.

Anyway, it says that the part that you remove from the name is the 0's. Leave all the words alone.

In step 14, it looks like you need to copy the instance number from the MMAT and paste it into the MaterialOverride property if that doesn't already match. If it does, you've finished that step without doing anything.

I really appreciate your trying to help me with this. I know that tutorial is old I had to guess at acouple of things to figure out the change in terminology from the different versions of SimPE. This 128 bit thing I couldn't find referenced anywhere. I will show what I am confused about and maybe you will understand better than I do.

A couple of examples of the part where I am to remove the 128 key thing:

jope.kitchen2.blackboard--[jodavis-24.7.2010-d1e11]_painting_txmt

paintingposter-[jodavis-24.7.2010-d241d]_poster_mountain_txmt

I was assuming that the part I was to remove was the part in the brackets but when I opened some of the premade templates I saw this:

postersoccerbicyclekick_texture-[Quaxi-21.03.2005-16f26]_txmt

paintingminimalistsquareorange_surface_txmt

2 different ways it is done. So I started to wonder if I was reading the tutorial wrong or something.  Maybe that step isn't really neccessary?? I think I will play around with it a little and see if I can stumble upon the answer. I appreciate all your help. Thank you so much, Jo

I suspect that the 128 bit key is already gone if you don't see the 0's. If you run into anything with the 0's, you need to get rid of them, otherwise that's another step that it has already done?

There might be a newer tutorial at Mod the Sims, but it's not letting me in to check at the moment. Apparently some people can get in and some can't. I'm one of the unlucky ones, probably because I'm on a wireless network which is being too slow to negotiate the connection.
