| Hi all,
Could someone please help?
I am trying to extract the thumbnails from the thumbnail package file however when I extract them they are always saved with the black background.
I have been told they can be exported with a transparent background but can't work out how to do this.
If anybody can assist I would be very grateful.
Thank you. |

| Do they remain .png when you save them? I've seen them with the transparent background, so I can confirm that it is possible, I just don't know how it was done. If they remained .png, maybe you could experiment with exporting them as a DDS? I'll see if Peter knows how, but you might have more luck at MTS. At least you might have a better chance of having the question seen by someone who knows the answer. EDIT: Ok, Inge had the answer. Open it in simpe. Then right click the image and export the alpha channel. It doesn't come out in one piece. |

| Thank you so much for your help. I really do appreciate it.
Unfortunately I must be doing something wrong. I open up the thumbnail package file, right click on the thumbnail I want to export and select extract, then extract as a png.
It saves as two separate files, one of them is the png. It still has a non-transparent black background.
Thanks so much for your help regardless. I just can't seem to work this thing. :( |

| I get the impression from Inge's answer that the one that isn't the png with the non-transparent background is actually the alpha channel. You need to open both and combine them in your editor, which should give the transparency. (Or, if your thumbnail doesn't have any black in the image, you might be able to tell your graphics editor to turn all black in the image transparent. I know Photobie does that, and I'm sure that most others have that option buried somewhere in them. Agreed, this would end up being problematic if there is black in the image.) |
