I know Quaxi is not available, but maybe there is someone else who can advise/help me.

I used to have a log in of 'RosieC', but some where in the last couple of weeks I've messed things up and I have somehow managed to delete it (all my previous posts are now against 'Anonymous'). I was having a lot of problems loging in after my PC lost the cookie which was logging me in automatically. I think I must have clicked on the 'Re-send Authorisation' at some point, but I did not receive any email, I'm guessing that somehow when I didn't respond to it my account was removed (well maybe - I'm guessing here, all I really know is that I've not been able to log in for a couple of weeks and today I realised my account no longer exists).

Today when I realised the account did not exist I tried to re-register with the same name, it let me but I made another mistake and got one character wrong in my email address, so I can't validate it. So now I've created this login.

My main questions then are this...

I also have a GUID registration under the name of RosieC. Will this have disappeared as well?

Is there anyway I can find out (I'm having trouble loging in to that as well)?

If it has gone is there any way for the GUID numbers assigned to it to be moved over to this account?

If anyone has any advice I would be really greatful.

RosieC

I checked the userlist for the forums and I see a RosieC in it, marked as "not yet activated".  Is that you?   Now as far as finding you in the GUID database, I don't seem to have the tools to search by userid, so I'd have to just keep paging through it.  You could do that and let me know if you can find yourself.  I don't think the GUID database user numbers tie in with the forum user numbers, or the profile numbers, so I am having some difficulty "administering" you  :D   In fact at the end of the day it doesn't matter if you  are registered on the GUID database with more than one name, as long as your GUIDs are unique in the community.   Because we started with the idea of only issuing 256 GUIDs per block, there are so many numbers free only 9 months before the end of the Sims 2 game lifecycle it really doesn't matter if you had to abandon a block unused.  This is in sharp contrast to the position at the same stage of Sims 1 where people were more or less having to recycle magic cookies and hope!

You should see a textbox called "Filter" on the bottom of the user list in the GuidDB. Enter Something like "rosie%" and click "filter" to find any user starting with rosie.

If you (=Inge) do not see that filter option, there might still be some permission issues. So please let me know.

Ah I see it now!  But you need to tell me how I can help people to reset their passwords.

Thanks Inge & Quaxi,

The RosieC that is in the user list is probably the one I created yesterday, but then used the wrong email address (I missed out one character) and so could not validate it.

I started to page through the GUID database but after acidentally pressing 'First' got fed up with that.

I've just tried loging into the GUID database through SimPE though. It had not remembered my login because I have installed a QA release (clean install) since I last used it. I should have thought of doing that before though because even though I had forgotten my password for the main forum, the password I thought I was using on the forum (but which didn't work there) DID work on the GUID database. So I have access to that again through the original login.

Thanks again Inge and Quaxi

I think I might have activated your RosieC forum account though.  I had some options in a dropdown list.  See if you can get into it, and if you can then you can change your email address.

That prompts another question...

Is it possible that the password on the GUID database is different to the one for the same username on the main SimPE forums...

or was I just being 'fumble fingered' when typing it on the form a few weeks ago.

(My Husband, who is also the system administrator where I work, could tell you that it's not unusual for me to lock myself out of accounts that way, it's probably also why I was having problems with the GUID DB yesterday).

I still get a message that I need to click on the activation URL first, so no luck there.

Does the activation time out eventually? (i.e. If no one activates it will the username become available again after a certain time period).

Allthough I have no problem with sticking with this one now, I was really worried about wasting GUID numbers but if that's not a problem (and I've got access to those again now anyway) then as long as I remember to use the right login here it's fine.

I think I can delete the RosieC forum ID.  Until I find out how to reset a password that might be the best way.  Then if you start it again, you can let me know to delete Rosie.

I don't think the GUID database uses the same userlist as the forums actually.  I seem to remember having to set up my account on that seperately.
