I have a TUT,that shows these objects without the red x . What settings would I have to change in Simpe to be able to recolor/clone these cached objects? I have a picture of what I'm talking about,......"No Attachments". "S" V^^^^V

My understanding was that those red Xs were because you didn't have the EP or SP that the item came with. If you actually do have it, you would need to be sure that it is set up in your file table so that SimPE is finding it properly.

I clicked on Preferences, and checked Advanced mode.

Then restarted SimPe.

Still no change.

This is from the TUT by Numenor, " Recoloring roofs with object workshop".

Found on MTS2.

I also downloaded the Nvidia DDS Utilites.

WHY IS SO HARD TO POST ON THIS SITE?!?!?!

I have pressed "SAVE" 15 times,I keep getting "You have to enter a message".

Glad I copied my post before sending.

You guys need to change servers or something.

Yes, this site is a pain. Unfortunately it's what we have to work with, since it was Quaxi who set it up.  (At least it's so hard to post links that spambots end up getting thwarted before we end up getting hit with pictures we didn't want to see.)

As for telling you how to set it up, that's one of the things I do without looking at the labels anymore...

Somewhere near where you run a system check is the spot where you tell SimPE which EPs and SPs you have and where to find the path to them, although it should have found them for itself. Apparently it didn't, or the file table was changed for some reason and never changed back.

You might also want to run a system check.

I ran a system check before post my questions, all was well.

I guess SimPe found the list of games because it listed them all.

HMMMMMMM!

Ok, now I'm completely puzzled too. I wonder if reinstalling the CEP would help.

Well, it's been almost a week and you aren't back. I hope we can assume it worked.

I believe that SimPE accesses (and displays in the object list) the game-generated thumbnails; if you have a red X for one or more objects, you should start the game, go to the catalog, and select the object(s). then close the game and go back to SimPE, and you should see the thumbnail instead of the red X.

Note that some not-in-catalog objects, such as the diagonal doors, are always displayed with a red X.
