| :?: Question on how to do sim surgery if the archetype sim is in a different neighborhood? My daughter and I had a great time making our family in Pleasantview, and we turned out great! Now she wants to make us in Vaal Canyon, and we didn't do so well...I told her to go ahead and accept family, that I would use "us" from Pleasantview and do sim surgery, but now I find I don't know how!! :? When Sim Surgery is open, the only choosable sims are from that neirgborhood...how do I get us to be available in Vaal Canyon??
Thank you in advance--you tech types are amazing, and I don't know what this pseudo-tech (yeah, I limp along with help!) would do without you!

| Had a chance to get back to this tonight and tried exporting both sims (one Tom and the other Thom), figured they would be in Body Shop. Opened body shop and could not figure out how to get to them....
So I thought I would just try to copy the file from N001 to N004, deleting the N004 Thom and renaming the N001 file to N004, character 00000. Didn't work: went back to SimPe to see who was there and there was NO Tom OR Thom.
So at this point, I'm thinking to delete me and my daughter too, and somehow clone us from Pleasantville; seems like I should be able to do this in body shop, but don't know how. They were made in Create a Family, but using SimPE could make everyone Saved Sims. Where to go from there???
Don't want to package the lot or move them out, as I don't want the Pleasantview family to loose relationships/rewards.
Any thoughts??? |

| Sims in "Saved Sims" are Template Sims for Bodyshop and the CAS. You can create a new Sim based on the looks of those Sims.
When you copy the Character File, you also have to Update the GUID of that Sim. First open the Character Description of the Sim who is gonn be replaced in the Neighborhood, and copy/wroite down the Sim ID.
Then open the Character File you would like to overwrite that sim's look, and Select the OBJd Resource. There you simply paste the copied Value into the GUID Filed, hit commit, and Save.
Now the Sim did change all it's looks, and has the Character properties of the other Sim. |

Thanks for the info--I knew it must be something like that, but have not learned SimPE any further than adjusting personalities and relationships in Sim Browser and bringing Bella back. Time to learn this stuff!
Anyway, I took matters into my own inexperienced hands and messed up, so now I don't have the DH in Vaal anymore...(and I do know better but did not back up)...and when I tried moving the family sans Daddy into a lot, intending to package that lot, move it to Pleasantview, do the surgery and move them back, here's what happened.
Moved family into small house, family icon included DH. When they appeared on the sidewalk, was only Mom and child. Went back to neighborhood, tried to move family and house back to bin and the game crashed.
Going to try to move family out of the lot and delete them (trash, in the game) and if it crashes again, maybe buldoze the lot with them in it.
Will this work or do you have a caution/other thought??
