Well, I shouldn't say that its not working exactly, but it doesn't do anything. I can load a neighborhood, but I cannot backup a neighborhood or perform sim surgery, or do anything for that matter. When I try, it gives me a pop-up saying 'SimPE is not responding.' I've tried waiting, but nothing happens.

Here is a random list of facts about my computer and Sims games.
My laptop runs Windows 7.
I have Double Deluxe, Best of Business, Fun with Pets, and University Life.
The .NET Framework 2.0 does not work on Windows 7, but I have .NET Framework 4 instead.
When I run The Sims 2, It says 'Sims 2 Store Edition' on the game launcher.

I'm sorry if I should have put this in a different place, or if someone already said something like this. I looked through the other threads, but none of them seemed similar to my problem.

I'm really not that tech-savvy, so if you could explain things to me kind of simply I'd appreciate it. (Even if it sounds like you are talking to a preschooler.)

It sounds as though the poor program is getting confused!  SimPE has historically had trouble finding the EPs from a combo pack. It is also set to disable options associated with an EP you don't have. All of your EPs are in combo packs. Have you gone into the settings and manually set the path for each EP to the appropriate path? (This might also be why it thinks you have the Store Edition) It is also very helpful -not- to have downloads loading while it loads everything else. One bad download can cause trouble, too.

"Not Responding" simply means "Too busy to respond to any further input". Sometimes it's busy because it got stuck, but with SimPE it can also be too busy because it has a lot to do.  (No matter what you do with SimPE, you are probably not going to use 90% of it today. But it all loads anyway.) Even when it's reading things properly you can still wait a very long time to have it finish loading. Expect to wait about as long as it takes to load and save your game if you are working on your neighborhood.

If manually setting the paths doesn't help, we may have to call the experts in.

I am having a similar problem.  I hadn't played Sims2 in quiet some time and have just started playing again.  I recently did a reformating of my computer and and just reinstalled all games.  Last time I played I had up to AL.  Being that I now have M&G, I came looking for all the updates mods, including SimPe.

Upong downloading SimsPe I get a warning message.  It says

"SimePe detected a new Expansion Pack for 'The Sims 2'

This SimPe Version does only work with Game Versions up to 'The Sims 2 - Mansions and Gardens Stuff'.  Newer Game Files might cause Errors when opened with this Version of SimPe!

(For more Informations, please visit htt://sims.amberation.de/en/).

Run SimPe anyway?"

I don't understand why I'm getting the error message when M&G IS the last and latest I have and am using.  I figured this maybe just a generalized warning so I clicked ok to run.  I tried to open Sim Browser and am getting an error message that reads

“This is not an appropriate context in which to use this tool.”

I’m confused and not sure what to do.  I’ve tried closing SimPE, deleting and reinstalling, restarting my computer. Help please.

Ghost--What do you mean by manually setting the path for each EP? Would I have to reinstall? Because I don't really enjoy that. I'm sorry, I'm just not very good at this.

txblue29--I get the exact same message when SimPE starts as well, except I do not get the “This is not an appropriate context in which to use this tool" message. For me it just gets kind of blurry and says 'Not Responding.'

The combo packs are annoying! Honestly, I started off with the Sims 1, then by the time Sims 3 came out, I hadn't ever done any Sims 2 things. I only recently (about 2 years ago) began playing Sims 2, and by the time I began playing there were no normal expansion packs. So frustrating!

No, you reset the path from within SimPE.  It's in Extra, then I believe it's Preferences (It's been a long time), then find the place where it lists the file paths for the various Eps, the CEP, and the base game. (System Folders) Those can be edited. You want the Uni path to point to the EP1 folder, Nightlife path to point to the EP2 folder, OFB to the EP3 folder, etc.

Making sure the file table is set properly might help with the M&G problem as well.

Okay, I put the regular EPs into their proper folders. Should I do this with the stuff packs too? If so, where should I put them?
