I've encountered a major problem in my game. I had Alexander Goth go to the Gothier Green Lawns and bring back most of the tombstones of Pleasantview premade Sims that I had moved there. When he came back, I took Goth and Crumplebottom tombstones out of his inventory and placed them in a mausoleum. He then invited over his neighbours and gave them the tombstones of their ancestors. The tombstones were transferred from Alexander's inventory to the other Sims' inventories perfectly. The Goth mansion was haunted by Victor, Gretle, Cornelia and Agnes, and each of the four scared someone.

Everything seemed well until I restarted the game. To my horror, all of the transferred tombstones and urns were gone. The tombstones that were never moved to the Gothier Green Lawns remain. So do the tombstones that were moved to the GGL but not moved back to residential lots.

That is not the greatest problem. The portraits of all the ghosts who haunted the Goth mansion disappeared from memories and family tree. Portraits of other transferred dead Sims are intact, including the Goth ones who did not haunt the house. When I opened SimPE, I noticed that all of the transferred Sims had a blue background, as if they were deleted, while Victor, Gretle, Cornelia and Agnes also had the clown image instead of their portraits.

What went wrong? How will this affect my game?

There seems to be a slight chance to partially repair things, however. While controlling Alexander, I still have the option to place tombstones he had in his inventory before giving them as gifts to his neighbours and relatives. It occurred to me that i might use that option to recover the lost graves if I change 0x0001 to 0x0000 for each of the affected Sims and then place tombstones while controlling Alexander.

Is this going to work? Do you have any other suggestions? Thanks!

I would back up the neighborhood before trying it. If it makes things worse, you can get back to this point and try something else.

Peter never played the game, so he wouldn't know. There is a good possibility that Inge would just tell you to move to Sims 3. And I have no idea.  It does sound like it might be worth trying, but only if you have a good backup kept in a safe place.

If it doesn't work, you can try asking at Mod The Sims.  You will get more people who are likely to see the question there.

Back up your 'hood.  Always...

Empty blue squares are generally "OK" - it usually just means the Sim has never gone through a game process that creates the particular image SimPE is looking for.

A "Mr Potato Head" isn't good - it can mean the data is corrupt so proceed with exteme care.
