The .obj file you want to import is nonstandard and thus the importer plugin has a problem with it.

I do not use wings3d and thus cannot say if wings is able to export correct .objs natively. There's a tutorial on modding with wings on www.modthesims2.com, maybe you should look there for a solution.

i'm using cinema 4d, i've tried free or cheap 3d modelling programs and *hated* their limited, clunkiness. i'm getting the 'index out of range' error continuously.

someone told me to get the riptide plugin, which i did and have tried using to export into simPE. alas, i'm still getting the error!

would it not be more sensible to allow the option of 0 or 1 when importing to the program? i know not everyone can afford or obtain expensive 3d programs, but  so many people are having issues with this using 3ds max and c4d that i can't help thinking the sim community is missing out on some top-notch artpieces through this lack of support.

if anyone knows of any information sources on the riptide 'index out of range' simPE issue, please reply, i'm tearing out my hair ^.^

Do you have 'advanced' ticked in SimPE settings?  If its not ticked then make sure it is, exit simPE, rstart it and try importing you mesh again.

This is truly not a simPE bug or a bug with the object importer/exporter in simPE.  Its either thea feature of not using advanced tools ins SimPE, a damaged or 'non clean' mesh or the mesh has not been exported to obj format in a native wavefront .obj format.

If advanced tools is not solving the issue please come back and I can go through the other methods to fix or work around the oter issues.

Okay - before we go into the more difficult stuff...

Is the box next to Advanced checked in SimPE Settings?

Yes, advanced is checked, and I even started over, just to make sure I had a fresh file. I exported the mesh, imported it in Milkshape, didn't touch anything, exported out of Milkshape, imported into SimPe. Not touching the mesh everything is fine. The moment I change anything, that's when it won't import.

Just to let you know how far I got ;-)
