Here's a completely visual tutorial for basic recoloring for those who just prefer pictures to a lot of confusing words.

I'm a visual learner, so I personally like this style of tutorial and I hope a few people get some use out of it.

***********************************************************
Requirements:

Nightlife (We're doing a NL object but if you study the pictures closely you should be able to understand how to do other objects easily. It's just a matter of exporting the image texture before importing this particular pre-prepared one.

MS .Net Framework
SimPE
CEP3

This pre-prepared fabric swatch, which is already the correct size so there's no need to EXPORT it during the recoloring
process, just import or use it to size your own: (right-click SAVE to your desktop)

<- end of requirements

And away we go!

If you choose both pieces in the next step, be warned that deleting one of the resulting pieces in the game will also delete the other one that's in the same package. So it's somewhat safer to just choose one. If you were making a pink sofa and wanted a pink base, then I'd choose both but if you're leaving the base black for instance, then I'd just choose the surface as there's already a black base available.

small verbal interruption...
Here you would normally EXPORT the texture image but because you already have the fabric to finish this process,
you can just go straight to importing.
